My boyfriend has just had his 26th birthday. I am organised when it comes to work and bills etc. However when it comes to birthdays and Christmas and mother’s / father’s day, I always leave it until the last minute to buy presents. I don’t know why – maybe it is the challenge of finding a present in such a short space of time.
Anyway, for my boyfriend’s birthday I did a bit of online shopping – I bought him a book off Amazon and a bit of retail shopping – I got him some jogging bottoms to wear as comfy pants around the house. I bought him some other presents as well. Moral of the story is, it is always good to use a variety of shopping sources to find your presents but you shouldn’t really leave it to the last minute!!

Yeah that’s right. Nowadays you can get promotional codes for pretty much everything. Now when I buy something, a gift for myself or my loved ones I always check if there is not a promotional code I could use to get more for my money or just have a discount.
Every website does that now and sometimes you can save some good money.
The other day I bought a very nice pair of shoes for my little daughter and found that with a certain promotional code I could get 15% off the price. Before that I also got free shipping from a major computer manufacturer using another promotional code.
And it is not very hard to find promotional codes. Sometimes they are on the site itself. Sometimes you have to search for them, but a quick Google or Yahoo! search will bring back loads of sites dedicated to promotional codes where they have a wide range of shopping sites.
The best ones even show you other promotions that are ongoing on a particular site which is always good to know.
So next time you buy something don’t forget to check out for promotional codes. It is tight for everyone so any saving are always welcome.

What a fantastic way to brighten up the doom and gloom of a rainy day. These umbrellas are fab and light the way for you as you walk along.
There a a few to choose from, one has tiny blue fibre optic lights making it look like a mini galaxy but these are on the outside so only passerby can see them.
However a new one has just been designed which has colour phasing stars that not light up the inside as well. So you can walk around in your own little rainbow bubble whilst the rain pours down around you. I think they are just perfect for seeing you through these long drawn out nights but make sure you have batteries to hand just in case they run out!

Hmmm – it’s my birthday soon and as people have started to ask what I would like I’ve started to have a look around…
The New spring season of clothes is in but its too cold still to even look at short sleeve tops and lighter clothing.
Diamonds are always athought – but too expensive for most obviously!
The best present for me would for all my friends to be together in one place at the same time – what more could a girl ask for. All the girls catching up – without being interupted by babies crying, toddlers tantrums and childrens chattering! Lots of chats, lots of good food, and definately lots of delicious wine.
The biggest diamond in the world couldn’t top that (well…it might!!)

Most of us girls and ladies and especially us Mums all love a little ‘Me’ time but when do any of us seemto get it? What with working full time and in the rat race of life 5 days of the week and catching up withhosuehold chores at the weekend who has time for chilling out?
The thought of being able to site down with a book or even a girly magazine to catch up on the celeb gossip is a luxury we all should have. To make sure your fellow ladie friends make the time, what better way than to subscribe to a magazine as a gift for them.
All magazines do it and you normally get 12 issues for the price of 10 or a free gift as as an added bonus. So come on give your mates a treat!

Although it may feel that Easter is still a long way off, if you buy Easter gifts for your relatives then now is the time to start thinking about what fab present that you’re going to give them.
Unbelievably, Cadburys Creme Eggs and the like have been in shops since just after New Year (and yes, I did buy one!) Retailers like to get their Easter goodies on the shelves as soon as possible, which is great if you like to be well prepared, but not so great if you’re still getting over Christmas!
Easter eggs are great for buying for young relatives and chocolate lovers, but what if your loved ones don’t fit into either of these categories?
Well, you’ll be pleased to know that there is much more to Easter presents than eggs and fluffy bunnies.
You may or may not know that you can now buy some fantastic Easter hampers, which are full of a range of goodies for all tastes- from fresh fruit to jam to sweets, and they all come in a gorgeous little basket that can be used again and again.
So, put a little thought into your Easter presents this year, and make the Easter bunny work that little bit harder.

Most people love receiving flowers but I enjoy buying and givingthem just as much. I always make sure that the bunch matches the personality of the person I’m buying for or at least matches the colour scheme of their living room!
My partner tunred up on my doorstep the other night with a gorgeous bouquet – hmm I thought, whats he done he needs to apologise for and how gukity I felt when he handed them over and said they were just for putting up with him! Two weeks later they still look really fresh and make me smile and makes me feel I’m worth somehting to someone.
Flowers can say and mean all sorts; ‘Thankyou’, ’sorry’, ‘keep your chin up’ ‘love you’. and they don’t cost that much so get out there and make someones day and buy them a bunch!

Sorry – I know this has been written about only a few posts ago, but I feel like I need to get down my opinion on the day!
Most girls love it – what’s better than being pampered, being taken out for the night or if you’re a really lucky lady, being whisked off somewhere romantic for the weekend.
But what annoys me is the fact there is ‘day’ which most of us feel compelled to join in with and end up spending a fortune, when all it is is a day for which card companies and florists can make a dam good profit! Why should we need a specific day to tell our loved ones we love them – any day is a good day in my eyes to be told how much I’m loved and have gifts thrust upon me!!
Boys? I’m sure they’d feel the same too!

I always thought Gift sets were a bit of an easy option when it comes to buying a present but recently I have spotted quite a few really nice ones. Clarin’s always seem to have really good ones. You can purchase these sets usually from Debenhams and John Lewis. I think this is a great gift. In most sets there is a carry case or make up bag of some sort, and depending on which type you get there are about 5/6 products in each set. The online shop is even better as you can create your own gift set and custom it yourself to suit the recipient of the gift set. I think there are very reasonable priced too for the amount of Clarin’s products you receive.

Well the VAT in most stores has now gone back up to 17.5% but will this effect buyers habits. There were in reports in the papers that people just before the increase were buying big items like cars and electrical goods to avoid the tax increase and get a better price. I was thankfully one of those people. I bought a new car when the tax was still 15% and when the government was offering the scrappage allowance and I am very glad of it. But it makes you wonder what will happen the certain industries now. I don’t the government will be helping out industries like car manufacturing again after the tax increase, and although we are heading out of the recession, it is still a slow process and I don’t think people are likely to start spending big anytime soon! Will it make a difference to people’s general spending? i.e food shopping and luxuries like clothes and shoes etc, I guess only time will tell.
